A former pawn shop was renovated into a quaint Japanese style share house.

It will open in March within a 10-minute walk from Gifu Station.

A quaint Japanese house was renovated with modern taste

The house consists of seven individual rooms. It’s just the right size for a share house.

It’s a wooden house that makes you feel at home. You will feel as if you are staying at your parents’ house.

The living room has a low table with cushions around it.

A soft and calm coloured wall has a huge deep grey 50-inch TV set hanging from it. This room will be the space where house mates gather around.

There are dim, warm spotlights in the living room, giving it a stylish feel.

The special thing about this house is that old fashioned paper doors were remodeled into glass sliding doors.

It will be nice to cook a delicious dinner, and have a meal with your house mates.

Although it is a share house, you will be able to relax in this modern designed house and feel as if you were in a quaint café.

A former pawn shop was renovated!?

Indeed, this 40-year-old, former pawn shop was renovated into this house!

The quaint style and the clay walls were preserved; the counter tops were removed; and the beams were revealed.

Old features were renovated, and the kitchen and the bathroom were renewed into a more convenient fashion.

It’s a combination of Japanese and Western architecture, which makes this share house rare in the Tokai area.

The room used as a safe room, when the house was a pawn shop, is now used as a laundry room; because it is soundproof.

In the share house there is some evidence showing that it was once a pawn shop: Some windows have latticework for example.

Private rooms with chic atmosphere!

Wood was used for all the rooms, which gives the house a bright warm atmosphere. At the same time, dark grey paint was used on the wood, which gives the house a chic

atmosphere. The color balance is exquisite.
